More Family

Mount Vernon-There is so much to do there that we didn't even get to see or do it all.

Three weeks ago, my parents came for a visit.  My dad has been to DC many times in the past, but my mom had never been here before.  It was wonderful to be able to show them where we live and all there is to see here.  Because Dad and the boys had seen a lot of downtown already, some days Dad would stay home with the boys, flying kites, playing cards, helping with schoolwork, taking the boys out to eat...while I showed Mom the sights.  We all took several tours together as well.  With each visitor that comes, I get to have a few new experiences of my own.  With Mom, it was a twilight tour of the monuments and the free Sunday night concerts at the National Gallery of Art.   We were able to attend two concerts, and they were amazing. One was pianist, Catherine Chi and another was conductor/pianist Paul Badura-Skoda. We were blown away at the world-renowned talent that we were able to hear, and in such a beautiful setting.  The day before Mom and Dad were to leave, I realized with all we had done, I had not taken Mom to the White House!!  Good grief!  So we hustled, via cab, to the White House after touring the Library of Congress and Supreme Court.  It was a busy 10 days, but so wonderful to see more family!

Right outside the National Gallery of Art.  I love this place.  It's beautiful inside and out!

This is one of my favorite pictures bc I can almost promise you that Dad was just about to put bunny ears on me for the picture.  He's done it for years! Ha!  This is outside of Ebenezer's coffeehouse up from Union Station.
